Free aspect ratio calculator for photo cropping
When cropping a portrait into a passport-photo frame the aspect ratio is what controls how much head, neck, and shoulder you see. Type any two values (width / height / ratio) and we compute the third. Pick a country preset for the exact ID frame, or get the reduced ratio (e.g. 35:45 = 7:9). Useful for setting a fixed crop in Photoshop's Crop tool or Lightroom.

Frequently asked
What aspect ratio is a passport photo?
Depends on the country. ICAO standard is 35×45 mm (ratio 7:9 ≈ 0.778). US passports are 2×2 inch (1:1 square). India is 35×35 mm (1:1) for visa, 35×45 mm (7:9) for passport. Japanese ID is 30×40 mm (3:4).
How is the simplified ratio computed?
Greatest Common Divisor (GCD): for 35×45 the GCD is 5, so 35÷5 : 45÷5 = 7:9. We compute it on integer mm values for exactness.
Can I use this for video (16:9, 9:16) too?
Yes — the math is identical. Pick the "Video / generic" preset for 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, 1:1 Instagram, etc.
