Key points

5 points
  1. Danish embassies ask for one passport photo, 35 x 45 mm, solid light-colour background, no older than 6 months.
  2. Head size: 30–36 mm (Embassy in Pakistan) or 32–36 mm, 70–80% of the photo (VFS Global); 32–36 mm meets both.
  3. ICAO rules: colour, taken up close, well lit, straight on, no headgear, no sunglasses, mouth closed.
  4. Fingerprints are taken at the VFS centre; not again if given less than 59 months earlier. Children under 12 are exempt.
  5. Passport: valid 90 days after you leave the Schengen area, issued within 10 years, 2 blank pages.

Applying for a Danish Schengen visa? You need one passport photo. The Embassy of Denmark in Mexico writes: «The photo must be passport-size (35x45 mm) with a solid, light colour background, no older than 6 months.» The same wording is used for tourist and business visits.

Fingerprints

Your fingerprints are collected at the VFS Global visa application centre. If you gave fingerprints for an earlier Schengen application less than 59 months before, you do not have to give them again. Children under 12 and people for whom fingerprinting is physically impossible are exempt. VFS Global in Canada charges a €27 service fee for receiving the application and taking biometrics.

Passport and insurance

  • Passport valid at least 90 days after you leave the Schengen area, not older than 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Travel medical insurance of at least €30,000, valid in the whole Schengen area for the entire stay.

The embassy may ask for more documents at any time; if they are not sent by the deadline, the application can be refused and the visa fee lost.
