Moldova-specific things to know
- An adult applicant brings no photograph for a Moldovan passport: it is taken in person at the ASP counter, the consulate or the embassy together with the fingerprints.
- A printed 10 × 15 cm colour matte photograph on white is asked for only for an immobilised or seriously ill person, and a serious facial injury or dressing is handled by taking the image from the State Population Register on a medical certificate.
- The prints of 10 × 15 cm and 3 × 4 cm that the Milan consulate lists are for the identity card (buletin), with rules on shoulders, gaze, expression, glasses and lighting — the passport has no prints at all.

What the source confirms
- ASP, «Eliberarea pașaportului», documents for a person over 18, as the case may be: the valid identity card (compulsory for persons over 14 who live in Moldova), invalid passports or a declaration of loss or theft, civil status documents, the foreign passport of a person who declares another citizenship, and a disability certificate or a medical certificate that taking fingerprints is physically impossible; the list contains no photograph.
- Same page, for an immobilised person or one in serious condition in a medical institution (unconscious, in a coma), the person acting in their interest presents, in addition, a recent photograph of 10 × 15 cm, colour, matte, on a white background, and a medical certificate; for this category, and where the facial image cannot be taken because of serious facial injuries or a dressing and a recent photograph cannot be presented, the facial image is taken from the person's profile in the State Population Register, updated at the issue of the last identity document, on a medical certificate.
