What these formats have in common — Iceland

1. 01Every format here uses the same photo size: 35 × 45 mm.
2. 02The background is the same in every format: Plain light.
3. 03Across these formats the head takes 67–80% of the picture height.
4. 041 document — you supply the photo yourself.
5. 051 document works either way — bring a photo of your own, or have it taken at the office.
6. 06These entries were last read between 30 Sep 2026 and 1 Oct 2026.
7. 07A single document can still add rules of its own on top of this — the document page is the complete list.

Recent notes — Iceland

Short notes we wrote when a requirement, a form or a submission portal changed.

• Iceland: collective protection for Ukrainians extended to 2 March 2027 — permits renewed automaticallyIceland has extended collective protection for Ukrainians to 2 March 2027. For those legally residing in the country, the residence permit is renewed automatically for a year, with no new photo session; you are notified by SMS when a new card is issued. Eligible for protection are citizens of Ukraine who resided in Ukraine as of 24 February 2022, persons with international/subsidiary protection or a humanitarian permit in Ukraine on that date, and their family members. Outside the automatic procedure are persons with dual citizenship, those who resided in a Dublin-cooperation country before 24.02.2022, and those who can safely stay in or travel to another state — their cases are assessed separately. Being abroad for more than 3 consecutive months may lead to revocation of the permit.
