The two largest diaspora pages — the UK and Canada — ask for printed passport-size photos on a white background, and the UK mission has a deadline worth knowing: free replacements until 30 October 2026.

The Kenya High Commission in London says: «Duplicate/Replacement/Change of Particulars services will be FREE for a period of six months up to 30th October 2026.» First-time applicants pay £30 by debit or credit card at the High Commission.

- The form Reg. 136A must be filled before you come; submission is strictly by appointment.
- Married women changing their name come with their husband.
- Collection is only by post: bring a secure, registered, trackable self-addressed envelope with prepaid postage.
For a new ID the UK list adds: your Kenyan passport (original and copy), Kenyan birth certificate, copies of your parents’ ID cards and birth certificates, and proof of your UK status. For a lost card: a police report and a notarised affidavit.
Canada: 35 x 45 mm photos and CAD 70
The Kenya High Commission in Ottawa gives an exact size: photos «on a white background following these dimensions 35mm x 45mm (3.5 x 4.5cm)». A 2 x 2 inch photo is possible only if your face appears small enough to fit the 35 x 45 frame.

Canada also asks for a money order of CAD 70 payable to the Kenya High Commission and a prepaid Xpresspost return envelope with tracking. Processing takes approximately eight weeks.
