Crop a photo to 35 × 45 mm — Luxembourg id card

For this document the photo is taken by the office, not by you

This is not a document where you bring or upload your own portrait: the photo is taken where the application is filed. Guichet.lu / Luxembourg authorities still publishes what the portrait has to look like, and those numbers are on this page — but meeting them in a file of your own does not replace that visit.

What the source confirms
  • Guichet.lu says the identity-card photo is generally taken on the spot during the application.
  • This applies at the Guichet.lu reception desk or in the commune of residence.
  • Applicants normally do not need to bring a photo for the standard route.
  • Special routes can allow an ICAO-compliant recent photo to be scanned.
  • This confirms a mainly authority-managed image route with exceptional applicant-photo handling.

What the cropper is still good for here

It will not produce the official photo for this document. It is here for the neighbouring jobs: a portrait for the application form, a copy for your own records, or another Luxembourg document that does accept a photo you prepared yourself.

The document requires: 35 × 45 mm · Head height 70–80%

The photo is cropped in your browser. It is not uploaded to a server and we do not store it.

How to crop it, in three steps

  1. Upload a photo taken face-on, in even light
  2. Move the photo until the eyes sit on the guide line and the head fills 70–80%
  3. Save the 35 × 45 mm result — print it or attach it to the application
