Luxembourg-specific things to know
- Inside Luxembourg you normally bring no photograph: it is taken at the counter of the commune or the passport office, and a professional photo is only asked «éventuellement». From abroad you supply a recent ICAO photograph.
- The background is written «clear and plain», not «white»: the pages read name no colour, so a plain white or very light background is the safe choice.
- The size is given as «no more than 45 × 35 mm» (height by width) — a ceiling, not an exact size; a standard 35 × 45 mm photo with the face at 70–80 % of the height fits.

- Guichet.lu, residents: the passport application form is filled in and signed and a receipt is handed over; «the identity photo can be taken directly at the commune or at the Passport, Visa and Legalisation Office»; documents: an identity document, the old passport, the payment receipt and, «éventuellement», a photo by a professional photographer that meets ICAO norms.
