Photo specifications at a glance — Chile
| Document | Photo size | Head in frame | Background | Last verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Residence Permit | The authority does not publish this figure | 70–80%ICAO standard — the authority publishes no figure of its own | Plain white | |
| Visa | 50 × 50 mm | 70–80% | Plain white |
The size, head share and background in this table are published by the authority itself. Where it publishes nothing, we do not leave a blank: we show the number we crop by and write beside it where that number comes from — converted from the authority's millimetres, or taken from the ICAO standard. And where no number exists at all, the row says so.

Recent notes — Chile
Short notes we wrote when a requirement, a form or a submission portal changed.
- What size photo to use if not specified: 5 reasons the size is missingThe authority might not publish the photo size for various reasons: EU residence permit specifications are secret, a German regulation refers to a technical directive, and the UK publishes file limits and crops the image itself for online passports.
- Chile photo rules: no size from the Migration Service, 5 × 5 cm at the consulateThere are two separate routes into Chile, and their photo requirements differ. The Migration Service (SERMIG) page on the temporary residence permit lists descriptive conditions only — no millimetres, no pixels, no resolution, no file-size cap. The consular page on prior authorisation and visas asks for a passport-size photo of 5 × 5 cm.
