- Upload the photo you want to resize.
- Pick the country and document — the exact size and head ratio come from that profile.
- Download the result — cropped, resized and face-aligned entirely in your browser.

| Background | Plain light background without shadows or foreign objects. |
| Glasses | Обычные корригирующие очки допустимы: линзы не тонированные, оправа не толстая и не перекрывает глаза, без бликов; солнцезащитные очки запрещены. |
| Head covering | Religious reasons only; must not cover the facial oval. |
For upload the file must stay under 5 MB KB — after cropping, save as JPEG and check the size.
What cropping will not fix
- A wrong background — cropping does not repaint the wall behind you. This document needs: plain light
- A shadow on the face or on the wall. Step 1–2 m away from the wall and shoot facing a window.
- Glasses in the frame. This document does not accept them at all — take them off and shoot again.
- A smile, raised brows or a half-open mouth. Cropping keeps the face it was given.
Why these photos get rejected — and how to fix each one
| Reason | Fix |
|---|---|
| White background (DIA requires LIGHT but NOT WHITE) | Re-shoot against off-white/light grey/light blue |
| Tinted or thick-framed glasses, or sunglasses worn | Prescription glasses are fine if they are not tinted or thick-framed and there is no glare; remove sunglasses |
| Head covering casts shadow on face | Re-shoot ensuring no shadow |
| Photo older than 6 months | Re-shoot |
| Photo edited, filtered, or AI-generated | Submit a genuine, unedited photo — do not use AI tools or filters |
New Zealand-specific things to know
- Background LIGHT but NOT WHITE — DIA explicitly rejects white (unique)
- Prescription glasses are allowed if they are not tinted or thick-framed; sunglasses are not accepted
- Built-in real-time photo checker tool on passports.govt.nz
- No AI-edited, filtered, or digitally altered photos — DIA requires your natural, unaltered appearance
