Why these photos get rejected — and how to fix each one
Pakistan-specific things to know
- The portal states two file limits: 350 KB for the photograph (Photograph Guide, How to Apply) and 500 KB for documents in general (upload page). Keep the photo to 350 KB or less.
- The size is given as 45 mm high by 35 mm wide, a portrait photo with the face at 70–80 % of the image — a tight crop of the head and the top of the shoulders.
- Glasses are not accepted at all («no glasses on»); head coverings are, as long as the face is clear from the chin to the forehead and on both edges.

- Photograph Guide, quality: photographs can be up to a maximum of 350 KB; no more than 6 months old; taken against a plain white background; «professionally printed and 45 mm (Millimeter) high by 35mm wide»; a close-up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80 % of the photograph; in sharp focus and clear; of high quality with no ink marks or creases.
- Same guide, the photograph must show you looking directly at the camera, show your skin tones naturally and have appropriate brightness and contrast; photographs taken with a digital camera must be high-quality colour; style and lighting: colour-neutral, eyes open and clearly visible, no hair across the eyes, facing the camera (not looking over a shoulder, not tilted) with both edges of the face clearly shown, uniform lighting without shadows or flash reflections on the face and no red eye.
- Same guide, glasses and head covers: «The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no glasses on. Head coverings are permitted, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.» Expression and frame: you alone (no chair backs or other people visible), looking at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.
- How to Apply: have on hand the supporting documents, a «photograph up to 350KB captured as explained in the Photograph Tutorial» and a valid credit or debit card for the online payment of the application fee; then create an account, log in to the Pakistan Online Visa System and complete the application. How to upload documents: allowed file types JPEG, JPG, PNG and PDF; allowed file size 500 KB.
