Crop a photo to 35 × 45 mm — Sweden residence card

For this document the photo is taken by the office, not by you

This is not a document where you bring or upload your own portrait: the photo is taken where the application is filed. Swedish Migration Agency still publishes what the portrait has to look like, and those numbers are on this page — but meeting them in a file of your own does not replace that visit.

Where these numbers come from

Source: Swedish Migration Agency. Last checked against the official page on 2026-05-17.

What the source confirms
  • The Swedish residence permit card contains a photo and fingerprints.
  • The Swedish Migration Agency says a person must be photographed and fingerprinted for a new card.
  • A new card is needed when the previous card expires or certain details change.
  • The page is process guidance rather than applicant-supplied photo specification.
  • The profile remains official-general because the photo is handled by the authority workflow.

What the cropper is still good for here

It will not produce the official photo for this document. It is here for the neighbouring jobs: a portrait for the application form, a copy for your own records, or another Sweden document that does accept a photo you prepared yourself.

The document requires: 35 × 45 mm · Head height 70–80%

The photo is cropped in your browser. It is not uploaded to a server and we do not store it.

How to crop it, in three steps

  1. Upload a photo taken face-on, in even light
  2. Move the photo until the eyes sit on the guide line and the head fills 70–80%
  3. Save the 35 × 45 mm result — print it or attach it to the application
