Jordan's embassies ask for «one recent photo» for the entry visa, and the size depends on the embassy: the Embassy in Washington lists «One recent photo (2X2) Inch», both in the Jordan Pass sheet and in its «Visa Application for US. & EU countries», and the Embassy in Canberra lists «One (1) recent colored passport size (4 x 6 cm) PHOTO of the Applicant», with the form's photo box reading «Attach recent white background Photo Here». The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' own bilingual form «Visa Application to Enter the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan» has only an «Applicant Photo» box and no size, and the Ministry of Interior's electronic visa application — «accepted only if the application was submitted from outside the Kingdom», with most embassies abroad having access to the system — gives no photograph specification on its public pages. The Washington embassy asks for the visa form, a passport valid for at least six months from the expected arrival with a full blank page, a money order for the consular fee and, with a Jordan Pass, a copy of the pass; the Canberra embassy asks for a passport valid for at least six months from the entry date, the one-page form and the fee by bank cheque or money order. A visa can also be obtained on arrival at Jordan's airports and most border crossings — the Washington form says citizens of the US, Canada, Mexico and the EU could be issued visas upon arrival, and the Canberra sheet says a single-entry visa may be obtained on arrival except at the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge.
Examples and mistakes
One compliant example next to the six most common rejection causes for Jordan visa applications. These are the differences that most often determine whether a document photo is accepted.

| Reason | Fix |
|---|---|
| A photograph that is not recent | One recent photograph. |
| A print of a different size from the one the embassy names — 2 × 2 inch in Washington, 4 × 6 cm in Canberra | A print of the size the embassy where you apply names. |

| A photograph on a coloured or patterned background where the form asks for a white one (Canberra) | A photograph on a white background. |
How to take it
Background: plain light
The tool puts in the required background. Stand half a metre from a plain light wall, face a window and shoot without flash — then there are no shadows on your face or on the wall.
Head: 70–80 % of the photo height
Camera at eye level, about a metre away; head and shoulders in the shot. The tool crops it to 35 × 45 mm.
Clear lenses only, no glare
If you wear glasses, check the shot: no glare on the lenses, eyes clearly visible.
Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open
Look straight into the lens with your head level; keep hair away from your eyes and eyebrows.

A Jordanian visa is applied for on the Ministry of Interior's e-visa portal from outside Jordan, at a Jordanian embassy (in person or by post, with the form, one recent photo, the passport and the fee) or on arrival at the airports and most border crossings.

Questions
It depends on the embassy: the Embassy in Washington asks for one recent photo of 2 × 2 inch and the Embassy in Canberra for one recent colour passport-size photo of 4 × 6 cm on a white background; the Ministry's own form gives no size.
The embassies' sheets say a visa can be obtained on arrival at Jordan's airports and most border crossings (the Washington form names US, Canadian, Mexican and EU citizens); the sheets name the photograph only for the application at an embassy.
On the Ministry of Interior's e-visa portal; the Ministry says visa applications are accepted only if submitted from outside the Kingdom.
One — both the Washington and the Canberra embassy list one recent photo.
The recommended size for the Jordan visa photo is 35 × 45 mm. The head occupies 70–80% of the photo height. Many consulates also require a specific digital file size — see the spec table above for full details.
Plain light background without textures or noticeable gradients. The background must be evenly lit with no shadow gradients, especially around the head. Consular automated pre-screening rejects photos with any wall texture before the human reviewer ever sees the application.
Visa authorities typically require the photo to be taken within the last three to six months. Submitting an older photo, even one that looks similar to your current appearance, is a frequent cause of immediate consular rejection.
Not always. Tourist, work, student and transit visa categories sometimes specify different dimensions or background rules. Follow the requirements for your specific visa type rather than assuming one photo fits all Jordan visa applications.
Anfas.Pro provides a 14-day full refund if the photo is the cause of rejection and you supply the consular rejection notice. We recommend keeping the consular receipt with rejection reason as proof.
Clear glasses only, no reflections; sunglasses prohibited. Consular automated checks flag glasses glare even when it is invisible to the human eye. Removing glasses entirely is the safest choice unless a medical exception is documented in your visa application.
35 × 45 mm = 3.5 × 4.5 cm = 1.38 × 1.77 inches. At 300 dpi that is 413 × 531 pixels; at 600 dpi, 827 × 1063 pixels.
Religious reasons only; must not cover the facial oval. The face must stay fully visible from chin to forehead and on both sides, with no shadow across it.
Yes. The same 35 × 45 mm format and head size apply to: residence permit, work permit.
