For a Slovenian passport the application needs one photograph of 3.5 × 4.5 cm that shows your true likeness, says the eUprava answer of the Ministry of the Interior and Public Administration: you are photographed from the front, with the forehead uncovered, without a hat, cap or scarf except by exception, and the face from the crown to the chin takes up 70 % of the whole photograph. The photograph must have «a suitable background, light and resolution» and be suitable for biometric capture — so the size and position of the face matter, the expression is neutral and the mouth is closed.
Instead of a print you can submit the confirmation of an e-photographer with the reference number of the photograph, which is kept in a special digital repository. The answer is short and dated 15 July 2015: it names no background colour, no age limit for the photo and no file size, so for those use the ICAO-style rules — plain light background, even light, taken recently.
