The photo
- One colour photo, 35 x 45 mm (3.5 x 4.5 cm, 1.4 x 1.8 inches).
- Not older than 6 months.
- You look directly at the camera.
- A plain light-coloured background.
- No head covering, except for religious reasons — then the face from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead and both edges of the face must be clearly shown.
- The Embassy in Washington adds: the photo must meet ICAO requirements.
Glue it, do not staple it
Both embassies say the photo is glued to the application form. The Washington page puts it plainly: glued on the form, not stapled. If you apply at the embassy in Ankara, the form is filled in online, printed and signed; at a VFS Global centre you follow the VFS instructions.
