For a Serbian visa the Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists «Photo (size 3.5x4.5cm)» among the basic documents, next to the completed application form, a passport valid at least 90 days after departure with two consecutive blank pages and issued within the past 10 years, and the visa fee. The official application form (Obrazac br. 1) has a box marked «Photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm)», so the photograph is 3.5 × 4.5 cm and goes on the form.
The Embassy in Tokyo, for Taiwanese passport holders, is more specific: one colour photo (3.5x4.5 cm), stuck on the application form — «do not staple the photo» — and, when the application is e-mailed in advance as scans, a colour scanned photograph as a JPG of at most 15 KB (passport and booking scans: JPG, 200 dpi, at most 300 KB). No head size, background colour or pixel size is published for the visa photograph, so a recent, sharp, plain-background 35 × 45 mm photo is the safe choice.
