Do not confuse it with another Canada document
Canada does not use one frame for everything. This page is about permanent residence card — 50 × 70 mm. The documents below are cut to a different size, so a file prepared here will not fit them.

What cropping will not fix
- A wrong background — cropping does not repaint the wall behind you. This document needs: plain white
- A shadow on the face or on the wall. Step 1–2 m away from the wall and shoot facing a window.
- Glare on the lenses. Take the glasses off or turn away from the light source and shoot again.
- A smile, raised brows or a half-open mouth. Cropping keeps the face it was given.
- Too few pixels. If the original is smaller than 591 × 827 px, enlarging it only blurs the face.

- Online PR card applications require one professional digital photo in the Permanent Residence Portal.
- Digital photo dimensions must be between 715 × 1000 and 2000 × 2800 pixels.
- Digital file size must be 4 MB or less and the file format must be JPEG/JPG.
- Paper PR photos must be 50 × 70 mm with head size 31–36 mm from chin to crown.
- IRCC explicitly forbids altered photos, including changing the background, removing glare or editing facial features.
