The e-government portal of Kazakhstan sets one list of requirements for photographs of identity documents, the ID card included: a photograph «made no later than 6 months before the submission of the documents», «printed from one negative on thick photographic paper, full face on a light background, with a neutral expression and a closed mouth», 35 mm wide and 45 mm high, with «the face occupying 70–80 % of the photograph, which makes 32–36 mm from the lowest point of the chin to the crown». The background is «plain and light»; grey is recommended and blue is not; for light hair a medium grey, for dark hair a light grey; no drawings or patterns, no shadows, nobody else in the frame. A digital photograph is «3.5 × 4.5 cm, 413 × 531 pixels, up to 30 KB, depth 24 bits»; a printed one goes on high-quality matte paper at 300 dpi or more. Pictures made by computer scanning, modelling or photocopying are not allowed, nor a photograph in uniform; sunglasses and light-reflecting glasses are not allowed, a head covering only for religious or medical reasons with the face open from chin to forehead and no shadows; for children the face takes 50–80 % (22–36 mm). At the registration point (RP DRN) the photograph is taken on the spot, free of charge; online you attach a photo and signature sample; the paper route in the service description lists two photographs of 3.5 × 4.5 cm with the face at about 75 %.
