The Kazakhstan visa application form takes a colour or black-and-white photograph measuring 3.5 × 4.5 cm — this is the wording of the Visa Rules as published on the e-Government portal (egov.kz) and in the Visa and Migration Portal (vmp.gov.kz). The rules add what the picture must show: «a clear full-face image of the person», corresponding to the person's age at the time, «no darkened-lens goggles and headdress», except for people for whom constant carrying of a headdress is an obligatory attribute of their national or religious affiliation, provided they are shown in that headdress in the passport photo.
The photograph is pasted in the visa application form, which you submit with a valid passport, the number and date of the registered invitation (or the application of the recipient of certain visa categories) and the original payment documents for the consular fee. No pixel size or file limit is stated for visas: the 413 × 531 pixels, up to 30 KB figures that circulate belong to the identity-document photo page for Kazakh citizens, not to visas.
