What cropping will not fix
- A wrong background — cropping does not repaint the wall behind you. This document needs: white
- A shadow on the face or on the wall. Step 1–2 m away from the wall and shoot facing a window.
- Glare on the lenses. Take the glasses off or turn away from the light source and shoot again.
- A smile, raised brows or a half-open mouth. Cropping keeps the face it was given.
- Too few pixels. If the original is smaller than 413 × 531 px, enlarging it only blurs the face.
Why these photos get rejected — and how to fix each one

- Medical glasses and religious headwear ALLOWED (unusual — most authorities ban glasses)

- Image-editing software modifications explicitly rejected
- Coloured contact lenses rejected (uncoloured prescription contacts OK)

Where these numbers come from

- ICP states that approved Authority photo standards follow ICAO principles.
- The photo must be recent, high-quality and taken against a white background.
- The photo must show clear facial features and eyes.
- Shadows, reflections and other visual distortions are not accepted.
- Hats and sunglasses are not allowed; only medical glasses are permitted if they do not cover the eyes, and the face must be straight with a neutral expression.
