UAE-specific things to know
- This is the passport of UAE citizens, applied for through ICP's smart application or website; the size is written 4.5*3.5 cm in one place of the guide and 3.5 × 4.5 cm in the others, and the FAQ says 3.5×4.5 cm.
- The white background is required, not just a light one (the ICAO leaflet says «plain light-coloured»), and the photo must not have a frame and must not show hands above the shoulder level.
- A child's passport photo can be replaced once during the first five years if the features change, with a recent passport photograph of the child (AED 65 and a new passport valid for five years).

What the source confirms
- ICP Services Guide 2024, «Issuance of Passport» (for UAE nationals): personal photo 4.5*3.5 cm with a white background; controls and conditions: the photo should be recent and in conformity with the specification of ICAO; the photo background should be white; hands should not appear above the shoulder level; eyes should be opened; without frame; photo width 35–40 mm.
- Same guide, «Renewal of A Passport», renewal from outside the country, replacement instead of a lost or damaged passport and change of features: a personal photo of 3.5 × 4.5 cm with a white background, with the same conditions — recent and conforming to ICAO, white background, hands not above the shoulders, eyes opened, no frame, image width 35–40 mm. The renewal from abroad adds a letter from the embassy proving the reasons for the person's presence outside the country.
