- Japan Introduces Mandatory Photos for Residence Cards for Children Aged 1 to 15The Immigration Services Agency of Japan has updated the rules for issuing residence cards (Zairyu Card) and special permanent resident certificates. Starting June 14, 2026, a photo on the document becomes mandatory for children aged 1 to 15. Previously, this requirement only applied to individuals aged 16 and older. The changes also include a special procedure for submitting documents during the transition period.
