What these millimetres work out to
- Against the European 35 × 45 mm standard this frame is 0.71 times as wide, 0.78 times as tall and 0.56 times the area — a photo cut for one of the two cannot be reused for the other.
How to crop it, in three steps
- 01
Upload a photo taken face-on, in even light
- 02
The tool finds the face, replaces the background and straightens the frame to the document’s rules
- 03
Save the 25 × 35 mm result — print it or attach it to the application
Do not confuse it with another Russia document
Russia does not use one frame for everything. This page is about military ID — 25 × 35 mm. The documents below are cut to a different size, so a file prepared here will not fit them.
- internal passport 35 × 45 mm
- international driving permit 35 × 45 mm
- international passport 35 × 45 mm
- residence permit 35 × 45 mm
- temporary residence permit (RVP) 35 × 45 mm
- visa 35 × 45 mm
- work patent 35 × 45 mm
- medical book 30 × 40 mm
What we fix for free, and what AI fixes
Fixed for free
- Background. Replaced with the one this document asks for: plain white background.
- Head tilt. Straightened if the head leans slightly to one side.
- Frame. Exactly 25 × 35 mm, by the document’s rules.
- A light shadow on one side of the face. Gently brightened.
- File and print sheet. A file to the document’s rules and a 10 × 15 or A4 sheet to print.
What can't be fixed for free, AI correction fixes
- Hard shadows and uneven light on the face.
- A smile, raised brows or a half-open mouth. Cropping keeps the face it was given.
- Too few pixels. If the original is smaller than 295 × 413 px, enlarging it only blurs the face.
- Clothing and pose. Shoulders out of frame, body turned away from the camera.
Russia-specific things to know
- Black-and-white photo on matte photo paper — both are written into Order No. 700 (п. 9–10)
- Two sizes in one Instruction: 25 × 35 mm for the military ID of soldiers and sergeants (п. 10), 30 × 40 mm for the reserve officer's military ID (п. 9)
- No head height is published — the Instruction describes the framing only as a bust
- The photo must match the citizen's age on the day the documents are submitted
- For example, the military registration desk of the Murinskoe municipality (Leningrad Region) asks for 2 photos of 3 × 4 cm, black-and-white, on matte paper (murinskoe-r41.gosweb.gosuslugi.ru, page on issuing a military ID)
Printing on a single sheet
5 × 2 frames fit on one 10×15 cm sheet — 10 copies from a single print.
